Jamaica’s Rasheed Broadbell has earned a bronze medal in the men’s 110m hurdles final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, continuing his country’s strong showing on the track. Broadbell’s performance took place inside the iconic Stade de France, where he secured a podium finish, adding to Jamaica’s growing medal count at this year’s Games.
Broadbell’s bronze is a significant achievement, coming in a highly competitive field. Unfortunately, his compatriots Hansle Parchment, the defending Olympic champion, and Orlando Bennett, finished at the back of the pack in the final. Bennett clocked in at 13.34 seconds, while Parchment finished with a time of 13.39 seconds.
This bronze brings Jamaica’s medal tally at the Paris Games to six, following a series of strong performances across various events. Just a day before, Roje Stona clinched Jamaica’s first gold medal in these Olympics, marking a significant victory for the nation. The team has also seen successes in the field events, with Rajindra Campbell winning bronze in the shot put, Shanieka Ricketts securing silver in the triple jump, and Wayne Pinnock earning silver in the long jump.
In the sprints, Kishane Thompson added a silver medal in the men’s 100-meter, which, before Broadbell’s bronze, was Jamaica’s only track medal. Broadbell’s podium finish now adds depth to Jamaica’s track and field accomplishments at these Games.
Broadbell’s bronze not only highlights his individual talent but also underscores Jamaica’s continued excellence in athletics on the global stage. With his contribution, the country’s medal tally continues to grow, further solidifying Jamaica’s status as a powerhouse in track and field.
