Meet Victor Kiplangat, one of the most exceptional athletes to grace the world of long-distance running. Hailing from the high altitude landscapes of Uganda, Kiplangat has made a name for himself on the global stage, challenging and often surpassing the established greats of the sport.
Born on 9th October 1998, Kiplangat’s affinity for running was evident from a young age. He hit his stride in 2016 when he won the U20 race at the World Cross Country Championships. This early success served as a springboard for his career, and he has since amassed an impressive array of accolades.
In 2017, Kiplangat clinched the silver medal at the World U20 Championships, cementing his status as a rising star. His personal best in the half marathon, a staggering 1:00:16, recorded in 2018, stands as a testament to his sheer grit and determination. For context, this time places him among the top 50 fastest half-marathoners of all time, an incredible achievement considering his relatively young age.
However, like any athlete, Kiplangat's journey hasn't been without its setbacks. At the 2019 World Athletics Championships, he missed out on a medal, finishing fourth. But true to his resilient spirit, this disappointment only fuelled his resolve to train harder.
