Ten high school athletes, including two 16-year-olds, are set to compete at the upcoming U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. These teenagers hope to impress selectors and secure a spot on Team USA for the Paris Olympics.
The Trials, kicking off June 21st, will see the nation's best vie for Olympic glory. Quincy Wilson and Elizabeth Leachman, both born in 2008, are the youngest qualifiers.
Making the Olympic team straight out of high school is uncommon, but not unheard of. Track fans may recall Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who stunned the world at 16 by setting a record and qualifying for the 2016 Olympics in the 400-meter hurdles. More recently, Erriyon Knighton defied expectations by placing fourth in the 200 meters at the Tokyo Olympics at just 17 years old.
These young talents are ready to make their mark, and the Trials promise to be an exciting showcase of athletic potential.
